What is Reconciliation?
(“Penance” or “Confession”)

The sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated when a person wounded by personal sin seeks out a priest to confess his sins and receive a blessing.  The confession of sins and the absolution blessing of the Church heals the rift between that person and God.

What difference can it make?

The forgiveness offered by Christ gives you relief, direction and spiritual stamina.  It can go a long way in healing the spiritual hurts you may have done to yourself or to others.  It restores you to full communion with the Church and makes you an alive healthy member.

What’s my next step?

St. Margaret Mary parish offers the sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) every Saturday morning immediately after the 7am Mass, in the church building, and will continue till the last person attends.  It is also offered any other day, at almost any hour the priest is free … if you call ahead and make an appointment.  Additional “Communal Penance” services are offered during Advent and Lent (see the bulletin or call the parish office for dates.)

If you haven’t received your first Reconciliation yet:

Baptized adults or children who haven’t made their first Reconciliation should get in touch with Nancy Keegan.  If you’ve already made your first Reconciliation, but “it’s been years” and you’re shy or don’t know how … set a time with one of the parish priests.  We are so happy to help!
