Reflection for May 11, 2025 – Fourth Sunday of Easter

Gospel Summary:
In this passage, Jesus proclaims, “I am the good shepherd.” He contrasts the good shepherd, who lays down his life for the sheep, with the hired hand, who runs away at the first sign of danger. Jesus emphasizes His deep care and intimate knowledge of His flock. He also speaks of bringing in other sheep—not of this fold—revealing His mission to gather all into one family of God.

Reflection:
Jesus isn’t just a protector or guide—He is the good shepherd who knows us, loves us, and willingly sacrifices Himself for us. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, His voice offers peace and assurance. Like sheep, we may wander or become distracted, but Jesus continually calls us back into relationship with Him.

This Sunday, often celebrated as Good Shepherd Sunday, is a moment to reflect on how well we are listening to His voice. Are we following Him with trust, or are we chasing the voices of the world? Let us ask for the grace to recognize our Shepherd and follow Him wherever He leads.
